A urine test used to screen for the presence of ten common drugs and their metabolites, as well as cotinine, a byproduct of nicotine, which indicates recent nicotine use (smoking or other forms of tobacco/nicotine consumption).

Substances Typically Tested in a 10-Panel Drug Test:

  1. Amphetamines (AMP)
  2. Cocaine (COC)
  3. Marijuana (THC)
  4. Opiates (OPI) - including heroin, codeine, and morphine
  5. Phencyclidine (PCP)
  6. Barbiturates (BAR)
  7. Benzodiazepines (BZO)
  8. Methadone (MTD)
  9. Propoxyphene (PPX)
  10. Methamphetamines (MET)

Cotinine Test:

Cotinine is a byproduct of nicotine metabolism. Testing for cotinine allows for the detection of tobacco use or exposure to second-hand smoke. Cotinine remains in the body longer than nicotine, making it a more reliable marker for detecting nicotine use.

Purpose of the Test:

  • Employment screenings
  • Medical assessments
  • Legal or court-mandated testing
  • Monitoring substance abuse programs
  • Insurance evaluations
